How Does Green Tree Planet Work?
Through promotional events, advertising, and direct contact Green Tree Planet would solicit donations to plant shade trees in approved green spaces in the community. The amount received through donations will determine the number of trees that can be provided to recipients in a given donations time block (1 to 3 months).
Green Tree Planet would then contact shade tree nursery owners to purchase or accept tax exempt tree contributions to acquire trees for planting in community green spaces.
Shade tree recipients will be determined based on community impact and need. Green Tree Planet will identify those in the community that are willing and able to accept donated shade trees. Tree recipients will be responsible for locating where the new trees will go on their property. They are also responsible for locating underground utilities, (power lines, phone cable, water/sewer lines, etc..) any damage to underground utilities is the responsibility of the recipient.
Green Tree Planet will hire local licensed landscape installation companies to pickup, deliver and install the shade trees. An installation date will be set shortly after the close of the donations time block. Institutions that have their own in-house installation capabilities will only take possession of the delivered trees.
Green Tree Planet will plant up to size shade trees in our local community. We are different from other tree planting organizations that will plant a seedling in a national forest for a donation. Our donors can see and interact with the donated trees in their community.
The trees that Green Tree Planet donates to its recipients come only from registered and licensed landscape tree growers that are inspected by the Department of Agriculture. South Florida has one of the largest landscape tree growing communities in the country. All trees will be number 1 grade or better.
Green Tree Planet will provide certified tree arborists to oversee the installation process and make sure that all trees are planted properly.
Green Tree Planet will follow all local codes when selecting trees for its recipients. Sensitivity to existing tree pallet will also be adhered to. Tree selection will complement the existing landscape.
Green Tree Planet will only use licensed and insured landscape installation companies to plant trees at donor sites. Bids and qualifications will be obtained to insure quality workmanship and value.
Once the donated trees are installed and deep watered to remove any air pockets the recipient is responsible for their care. They must now provide water, fertilizer, trimming and mulching so that these new trees prosper.
Green Tree Planet hopes that both the donors and recipients of shade trees are inspired by a sense of community awareness and helping the planet. We are committed to getting this idea out into our community and hopefully many more.
